Welcome to my online art portfolio! I am a self-taught traditional artist, heavily influenced by pop culture and alternative media. Growing up surrounded by comics and early 2000s-styled cartoons, I developed a desire to create art that combines storytelling and expressive imagery.
My work reflects a lifelong fascination with narrative, whether that takes the form of fully scripted comic panels or abstract charcoal composition. Though I primarily work as a visual artist, my greatest inspirations stem from music and film. Between horror classics and 2000s pop punk, I view my art as an amalgamation of these influences —a byproduct of everything I enjoy. I attempt to portray my most sporadic thoughts and ideas in ways that resonate on a visceral level.
My work tends to be illustrative, as my primary goal is to create for film and television; however, I also enjoy experimenting with the more abstract side of art. While I continuously explore new media and subjects to challenge myself, I feel most comfortable with gouache paint and ink. I work best with mediums that provide a tangible, hands-on experience, allowing me to experiment with layering, texture, and detail, which gives my work depth and immediacy.
Artistically, I am driven by the need to tell a story, using each piece as a question and a potential answer. Art for me is a conversation between myself and the work, and between the work and the viewer. Ultimately, I plan to become an illustrator to give others the ability to grow an interest in something I'm passionate about.
